Johnny Depp is Back as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Here is the first image from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides starring Johnny Depp, who is reprising his role as the popular Captain Jack Sparrow. Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted the pic yesterday for the film which will be hitting theaters in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on May 20th, 2011.

The film stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin McNally, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, Stephen Graham, Yuki Matsuzaki and Gemma Ward. You’ll notice that both Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley are missing from the cast list, as they are no longer involved with the series.

In the film, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
