Preview: “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”

Jerry Bruckheimer has not had the most successful summer of his career. “Prince of Persia” was not the worst film I have seen so far, but it did not bring in much money either. “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” was also something of a disappointment. But I am sure he is not stressing too much because he has an ace up his sleeve. Johnny Depp as everyone’s favorite pirate.

Captain Jack Sparrow will be back May 20, 2011 in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” While this information is nothing new to most movie fans, the images featured below are. “Radar Online” has provided us with the first images of the biggest addition to this franchise, Penelope Cruz.

The story follows Jack Sparrow and Barbossa as they embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too. Cruz plays Blackbeard’s daughter, Angelica, who also plays a part in Sparrow’s mysterious past.

I am not super excited for this film, seeing that I was very disappointed with ‘At World’s End.’ But I am intrigued in the fact that Rob Marshall is directing. Marshall has proven that he can handle musicals with Annie, Chicago, and Nine, but I don’t think we are going to get a song and dance number out of Sparrow in this one.

Are you happy they are continuing this franchise? What do you think of Marshall and Cruz being involved in this project? Let us know below in the comments.
