I’ve thrown together a quick look at some of the films at Sundance that peak my interest. Since most of these films don’t have a release dates yet expect them to trickle out throughout the year.
In Bruges – Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeason star as two hitmen that are forced to stay in Bruges. It is a crime-comedy and looks very promising from its trailer.
The Great Buck Howard – an ensemble dramedy with Malkovich in the lead as an eccentric entertainment star.
Also starring is, Tom Hanks, Colin Hanks, Steve Zhan, and Emily Blunt.
Choke – The second adaptation of a Chuck Palahniuk novel, this might my favorite of his books.
With Sam Rockwell as Victor Mancini, a sex addict who chokes himself on purpose for helpful gift money from the people who save him only touches the iceberg for how weird this one gets.
Pretty Bird – Paul Giamatti in a new film, enough reason for me to see it right there.
A comedy surrounding a small time inventor who invents “The Rocket Belt”
Sugar – Baseball movie about a Dominican player trying to make it and get his family out of poverty. Directors of Half Nelson’s follow up.
Sunshine Cleaning – Amy Adams in a biohazard removal business comedy, I’m intrigued
The Whackness – a coming of age love story set to teenagers in 1994 NYC.
Ben Kingsley and Famke Janssen star.
Good Dick – Not sure about the title but seems like an intriguing comedy and a really independent fare.
A Complete History of My Sexual Failures – sounds like it might be funny, could suck too, this is a British import documentary.
I Always Wanted to be a Gangster – A French comedy about small time crooks that might be better suited for something else.
Assassination of a High School President- Seems like a new twist on the teen film, but Mischa Barton is the lead, and that kind of scares me.
Be Kind Rewind – Michel Gondry’s latest about video store clerks who are forced to remake all the videos after they are magnetically wiped by Jack Black’s character, this could be fantastic.

The Escapist – a prison escape movie with hear, Brian Cox plays a lifer trying to see his dying daughter one last time.
Towelhead – Alan Ball’s debut film, with credit for creating Six Feet Under, I have to at least look at his new twist on suburban life style.
What Just Happened – Barry Levinson’s new film starting DeNiro, Bruce Willis, Sean Penn, Catherine Keener, and John Turturro, this bizarre looking comedy has got to be good.
Where in the World Is Osama bin Laden – Morgan Spurlock’s new documentary is also one of my most anticipated movies of the year. It is the account of him going out into the world in an attempt to find the illusive enemy of America.
Along the way we get a look at the Middle East from his interesting perspective.
